Antonov AN-124 Ruslan CCCP-82008 At EAA AirVenture Oshkosh 7/31/89
@MiTbus
After an extremely long pause between videos, I have finally had a chance to work on more. In this presentation, the former Soviet Union sent an AN-124 (CCCP-82008) to EAA AirVenture Oshkosh for participation in a static and aerial display; the first
visit by this giant airlifter to the show.
This aircraft is still flying, now registered as UR-82008 with Antonov Design Bureau. The video seen here was from 7/31/89,
filmed on a Panasonic AFx8 PV-400
VHS camcorder, and all audio has been retained in original state.

Thank you to all my subscribers, and everyone for watching...
Still more videos to come!

@MiTbus Just a quick video of my unboxing and initial impression of the newly released MotoArt Lockheed SR-71 Blackbird PlaneTag. The tag is cut from an original vertical stabilizer (exterior) from #61-7967, which is currently on display at the Barksdale Global Power Museum in Louisiana. Thank you to all my subscribers, and everyone for watching... Still more videos to come!
Lockheed SR-71 Blackbird 61-7976 At EAA AirVenture Oshkosh 7/31/89
Просмотров 3,6 млн12 лет назад
@MiTbus Finally got around to uploading video of SR-71A (61-7976) at EAA AirVenture Oshkosh on July 31, 1989. The Blackbird flew in on 7/28/89, and departed on 7/31. I was 10 at the time and my father was able to record the rare visit on his then new VHS camcorder (Panasonic OmniMovie AFx8 PV-400). Apologies for the vehicles/people getting in the way, but we were not allowed to get any closer t...

Design and speed is great...But the fact it leaks fuel while cold, cant carry weapons and has the manuverebility of an axe makes it pretty a useless. Its a nice technology test platform, but where is this tech adaptation now?

what a shame it had to exist in the first place, imagine how far along people could be if the money time and design was spent on peaceful means instead of fearing each other, but what a piece of gear.

My dad brought the whole family up to Oshkosh in the station wagon that day, and I got to see the fly-by! Boy howdy was it loud, even though we were watching from quite a good ways back. Surprised the mic held together as well as it did! It looks just as futuristically sci-fi now as it did back then. Super cool 😎

They are just now developing combined cycle engines like this beauty had back then. It actually has a pseudo turbofan to high bypass ramjet engine developed with slide rules in the Skunk Works from the P&W J58.

My Mom worked at Arrowhead Conveyor and we would often watch the show from the parking lot. Some years we would get tickets and some years not. I remember seeing the SR-71 this year and my Dad telling me how rare it was to witness this plane. I absolutely love aviation but deep down inside I'm terrified of flying. It's truly a love/hate relationship with me. On one hand I absolutely love it and think it's the greatest thing ever and on the other hand I'm scared 💩less.

I went to an Air Show here at Dallas Love Field back in the 80's and on a static display they had the SR-71 Blackbird sitting right next to the U-2R Dragon Lady. My Best Friend and I got to watch both take off and leave for where ever they were going to. Seeing that was really impressive to watch. Plus they had the Blue Angels there and a B-1A and B-2 fly over with the Leap Frogs Parachute team from the Navy SEALS. talk about impressed. Got to talk with one of my old Lt's who was now a Marine Capt. from VMFA-112 the Cowboy Squadron there in his F/A-18A Hornet.

Was 16 at this airshow. Watched her come in. Was a speck of pepper in the sky. Then she came down. Was the first year a Soviet AN-124 was @ a western airshow. I remember looking at the Russians on top of their airplane taking pictures, video and pointing with binoculars in hand. When they parked the SR nose to nose w/ the 124, THAT was a sight!

The SR-71 is my favorite aircraft. Maybe not as heavily armed as the Eagle but it's gonna sneak up on them MiGs real quiet like and shoot them with its camera. My neighbor is an old F-4 Phantom pilot. He saw a little action in Vietnam. I keep telling him to write a book. He had his share of close calls and narrow escapes from MiGs. These are my 3 favorite aviation books: - Her Majesty's Top Gun by Sharkey Ward - Scream of Eagles by Robert Wilcox - Great Fighter Jets of the Galaxy 1 by Tim Gibson
